Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) has embarked on an ambitious programme of school reform focussed on improving the general level of education for students in Abu Dhabi. Its aim is to bring around a step change in classroom standards allowing many more students to ultimately enter into further and higher education.
The strategy is demanding, however the need is clear and Abu Dhabi joins governments across the world in creating a programme of reform whereby more of it young people are capable of assuming key roles in its economic development.
Substantial financial and human resources have been made available to this programme and the return on this investment is, quite rightly, expected to be very high.
Governments across the globe, including the UK, Canada and the US have invested heavily in education reform and there are many examples of tremendous success as a result of this investment. It is also true to say however, that resources have also been wasted and many students face the same unfulfilling circumstances as those experienced by their peers of generations before them.
EdisonLearning has conducted intensive research into the best practice associated with highly performing school environments and captured this knowledge in a school operating system which has had substantial success with schools performing well below expectation.
Taaleem operate highly successful schools in the UAE and have a great insight into the needs of local schools.
Collectively, Taaleem-EdisonLearning have drawn upon this research and understanding, as well as their ongoing research with Partnership Schools in the context of the ADEC PPP, to establish a set of closely-linked operating strands. These six strands introduce a holistic school improvement framework in the school known as the Taaleem-EdisonLearning Framework.

The strategies and activities within the Taaleem-EdisonLearning Strands operate interdependently of one another and take an holistic view of school improvement. Most importantly of all, the approach, which underpins all of Taaleem-EdisonLearning’s work with Partner Schools, has a relentless focus on:
Raising Student Achievement – Putting this at the heart of the Partnership work we do with teachers – it is the key outcome supported by all strands.
Building Capacity – Ensuring that the Taaleem-EdisonLearning partnership work is not underpinned by a dependency model. Doing ‘to’ our Partners is not an effective long term strategy that can be sustained. We want to lead schools in the first year, walk alongside them in the second and be led by them in the third year.
Promoting Heritage and Culture – Understanding the values, Heritage and Culture of the Abu Dhabi society and promoting them through Partnership work is key to unlocking learning opportunities and making change sustainable.
